Jay Blizzard

I am a native of the Seven Cities, born in Portsmouth and raised in Suffolk, so it’s fitting that God would call me to minister to the people in our community. I grew up in a Christian home and attended Christian schools but walked away from the faith in my early twenties. During that time, I got involved in a lot of things I had no business being involved in, so like you, I have a past. It was through that time, however, that Jesus showed me how desperately I needed a savior, and He called me to Himself. I am a sinner saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am far from perfect but I am a servant of the One who redeemed me by being the perfect sacrifice for my sins.

I love being a pastor! My passions in ministry are teaching others how to study God’s word and helping them grow spiritually, helping men become God honoring husbands and fathers, and equipping future church planters. My wife, Rashidah, and I live in Suffolk, VA with our English Lab, Max. We have a blended family with five adult children and two grandchildren. I love sports (especially football and basketball), BBQ, reading, and strength training. I hold a Doctorate in Ministry (D. Min) with a concentration in theology and apologetics from Liberty University. My prayer is that God work through me to help you grow in your faith and to help you reach the people that matter to you with the good news of faith in Jesus.
